Darren’s God Blog: Now, I’m Different, Again

By Darren LaCroix | Darren's God Blog

While struggling in the 1990’s I prayed for God to help me achieve my crazy dream of being a full-time professional speaker. I didn’t care what it looked like, and I knew there was no way I could do it alone. I couldn’t see a way, but He showed me the way. Although, it took years before my prayers were answered.

In October 2001, I quit my day job of 11 years to do speaking full-time. It was scary, but one of my coaches had passed away; and I thought, if I don’t do it now I may never. Timing is never perfect. For several years I was one of the most appreciative people I knew. I thought that if I died tomorrow it would be OK.

A few years later I started believing my own press clipping and thinking I had won the World Championship of Public Speaking. Transparently, at times I thought, “Wait until they see what I can do.” I forgot my answered prayers, and my ego began to grow rapidly.

A few years ago, I listened to a Bible Church Series, I Am Second. It was what I needed. In 2014, I was baptized and recommitted to God. I wear a bracelet to remind me of the message. Now, I have the mindset, “Wait until they see what we can do.” I needed the reminder. I still do. I went from I can’t do it alone to, “I’ve got this” to “We’ve got this.” How about you?

(Reminder, this is just a journal of my mistakes, experiences, and thoughts along with my journey to having a closer relationship to God. I do not claim to be an authority on the subject. If you want to know The Way, read The Bible.)

What church do I attend? Verve Church in Las Vegas

P.S. Thank you, especially, for grace.
