OUCH! How I Went from Chump to Champ

(Keynote only – A must for new and experienced Toastmasters)
Forever Change the Way You Give Presentations

Have you ever experienced a presentation that put you to sleep? Ever given one? Have you ever seen a presenter bring a boring subject to life? What’s that difference? You are about to find out!

On April 26, 1992, Darren LaCroix made his stand-up comedy debut. It was, by all accounts, a disaster. Ten years later he “out-spoke” 25,000 contestants from fourteen countries in an international speech contest… and was crowned the World Champion of Public Speaking.

Think you can’t be a great speaker? Think again. Darren’s first performance and his championship speech are absolute proof that presenting is a learned skill.

Darren studied ten years worth of World Champions contests over and over again. He discovered what separates the person who wins from the person who comes in second. The winners had three points in common. Want to know what they are? Come to the program and hear it directly from Darren!

Speaking Outside of Toastmasters for Fun, Profit, and Club Building!

(Keynote only – A must for Toastmasters)

No one comes to Toastmasters to be a better speaker AT Toastmasters!

Do you have people in your club who want to become professional speakers? The true test of what we learn at Toastmasters is how we present OUTSIDE of Toastmasters. If talking to people face-to-fase is the best way to invite people to be guests, then why don’t more people use “speaking” as the best way to let more people know about what we do? It just makes sense.

But the question is… Where can you speak? What would you say?

That’s exactly why you need to hear this program! Darren will give you and your club a plan and answer these questions, plus many more. While speaking at one Rotary Club, Darren recruited five new members on the spot! See how he did it, so you can do it too!

AV Requirements:

  • LCD Projector & Screen
  • Flip chart and markers (or) whiteboard and makers
  • The ability to amplify sound from video clips (audio out of laptop — house system or computer speakers)

Just for Laughs! Comedy Keynote

(Darren’s clean humor)

Usually takes place on a Friday or Saturday night, with 5 or 6 local Toastmasters as Darren’s “opening acts,” performing 4- or 5-minute funny speeches or humor.

In high school, Darren LaCroix was considered “least likely to ever be funny.” His championship speech was about his struggle to become a comedian when no one thought it possible. Even himself. This keynote presentation is your opportunity to sit back and enjoy Darren’s “clean comedy.” And there’s a special bit about being a Toastmaster you’ll never forget!

AV Requirements:

  • Lavaliere microphone or handheld mic (with microphone stand)
  • Lectern
