“Welcome Fellow Toastmasters, guests and hockey moms!” Sarah Palin (aka Maria Austin) opened the meeting…She is talented, fun, and had the look and the accent down. Very funny.
This past week I was on the road speaking in Ohio for District 40 Toastmasters. What a wonderful greeting they gave me. On Friday night I played “second fiddle” to Sarah Palin (Well, actually a Division Governor, and Toastmaster for the evening.) She was a hoot, as the Toastmasters for Friday fun night. I played her “secret service” agent. Think this the first time I did not speak. (OK, in character, I yelled at the audience to “shut up” once.) It was actually fun going back to improv and using “subtle nuances” to connect with the audience instead of stories. I had a blast.
Did you get “stage time” on Halloween?
Stage time,
Darren LaCroix
2001 World Champion of Public Speaking
P.S. Did playing a secret service agent count as Stage Time? As Sarah (Maria) would say, “YOU BETCHA!”

Speaking of going back to your earlier career moves, Darren, was that you I saw playing a man who subsequently got murdered on an episode of CSI (Las Vegas)? I’ve kept meaning to email you and ask, but life has been busy with a capital BIZ!
I still have great memories of the Get Paid To Speak By Next Week Champ Camp and Vinnie’s show. Glad to hear you are still enjoying yourself.
Cheers,
Laura
