When was the last time you got an amazing, sincere compliment? The kind where people look you in the eye and see into you and tell you something that moves you? That is an awesome feeling.
I think most people like being liked and love being loved. Why, though, do people like you? Why do they love you? As I’ve been growing in my relationship with God, I’m realizing it is He — not I — whom they see. Yikes!
As I was editing this video this weekend, I realized that it was God they see and God they feel, not me. Yikes! I’ve been taking all of these compliments as if they were for me.
What part did I have to do with those compliments? Just one thing: accepting Jesus Christ and letting the Holy Spirit work through me.
What if every compliment were not really yours? God, I’m sorry for the past when I took all of the credit. Please remind me when I need it. Thanks for letting me really see that it’s not me but You they see.
Thank you, God, for Grace, Truth, Love, and Laughter,
Darren
(Reminder, this is just a journal of my mistakes, experiences, and thoughts along my journey to having a closer relationship to God. I do not claim to be an authority on the subject. If you want to know The Way, read The Bible.)
P.S. Thank you, especially, for grace.

Great thoughts, Darren, and so true. Corrie ten Boom used to say that when people handed her “bouquets” (compliments), she would visualize herself handing them to God! To Him be all the glory…
