What challenge are you dealing with right now? Are you praying about it? If so, cool, but that is just part of the plan.
As I still learn on my own God journey, I was reminded of a story about a friend and fellow speaker at the beginning of our careers. She was very spiritual and prayed often.
I remember the conversation vividly. We had a mentor in common. My friend went to our mentor and told him she had been praying and praying to get her career started. She was not making any progress and was distraught. Nothing was happening.
Our mentor contemplated for a moment and said, “You know, God will let you steer the boat for a while. You can steer it in any direction you want, but let me tell you something: God don’t row.”
Think about that one for a bit. My take on this was that we need to take some steps in faith to give God something to work with. We have to do some of the work, almost proving that we believe and are willing to do our part first. It made me think of Proverbs 21:31:
“The horse is made ready for the day of battle,
but victory rests with the Lord.”
What challenge are you facing right now? What can you do today to get your horse ready for battle? If you have done that, what else can you do?
Thank you, God, for Truth, Love, and Laughter,
