As I continue my own walk with God, inspired by my pastor, I’ve been reading two Bible verses every morning. I actually started at the beginning and have been pretty good at keeping my personal commitment. I do not claim to be an expert in this area. I’m just giving honest insight into my own journey, and I hope it helps others.
Have you read the Bible and been confused? OK, if you are like me it happens often. Sometimes I need to reread a section and still don’t understand it. Occasionally, I still have no clue after the re-read.
When reading about King Solomon, I think I clearly understood what the Bible said, but I did not understand his actions. If I’m reading it right, God spoke to King Solomon and asked for what he wanted. He asked for wisdom. God was pleased, because he did not ask for riches, so God gave him wisdom. King Solomon became one of the wealthiest kings in the world, and he had 700 wives. What?
It also said that his wives led him to worship other gods. Really? This shocked me. How could someone who had God speak directly to him and was smart enough to ask for wisdom be that crazy!
Are you kidding me? God spoke to you, and you asked for wisdom. He gave it to you, and you ignored His request to honor no other gods? What does it take? That seems so clear.
Here is a man of faith, and he was lead astray by the people he chose to be around. The people you and I allow in our inner circle affect us no matter how strong we think we are. Whom do you allow in your inner circle?
I was so frustrated, thinking, “How could you be so stupid. God spoke to you!” What happened to appreciation? Then it hit me.
Though God has not spoken directly to me, how many of my prayers have been answered? God has granted me many of my prayers, yet I still have sinned. Who am I to judge King Solomon when I do the exact same thing!
Wow. Ouch. I get it. I can learn from King Solomon, but I should not judge him when I make similar mistakes. I’m no better than he.
God, thank you for Truth, Love & Laughter

Hi Darren,
But I don’t remember you mentioning your faith in the past.
Could you tell us more about it? Are you Lutheran, Mormon, Jehova witness, …. ?
Is this something recent or have you been in this faith for quite a while?
Carlos.
Thank you for your insights and ministry. Who knows, maybe God has gifted you as a speaker to not only train others but to proclaim His Word. You have a group of followers that may never hear about God’s love. Want to go back to Chile with me?
Darren,
As a Christian I would encourage you share your spiritual side to the extent you feel lead too. You have the ability and skills to include a message that people need to hear about this important part of life. As always seeking God first and His direction is probably a quality first step. I’ll pray for you as well.
Best wishes,
Bryan Hoel
