The Bible is full of inspiring stories from Job to Jonah. I have to remind myself to look at the examples of faith in simple stories, too. For example:
Mark 2:4
Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on.
The man and his friends dug through a roof to get closer to Jesus. I wonder if it was he who asked his friends to do such a thing. Maybe his friends decided to do it. I think it is cool that we do not always have the answers, but sometimes it also frustrates me. It forces us to think and reflect.
I believe its purpose is to get us to reflect on our lives. Though I pray often and have been praying more and more, I realize that maybe I don’t do nearly enough. Maybe I don’t have that kind of passion to get closer to God.
Does it inspire you? What can you do?
Thank you, God, for Grace, Truth, Love, and Laughter,
Darren
(Reminder, this is just a journal of my mistakes, experiences, and thoughts along my journey to having a closer relationship with God. I do not claim to be an authority on the subject. If you want to know The Way, read The Bible.)
What church do I attend? Verve Church in Las Vegas
P.S. Thank you, especially, for grace.

Hello, Darren – I really appreciate your God Blog! I never once thought about that story and about how they got the man through the roof, and what they were thinking at the time. They must’ve been SO sure of Jesus’s healing powers. Perhaps they were brothers of the crippled man, or very good friends to have made such an effort. Thanks for the little meditation that draws us into the reality of being there during Jesus’s days on earth. Would we have been so ardent and believing as those people? Or would it have been more comfortable to accept our beliefs as they were, and to “poo poo” the possibility that the Messiah had truly come as promised?
Hello, Daren. What you say is so on the surface. What I mean is how people think what I could do. It is important that we think of others and ourselves. If we do not think about ourselves in a Positive way, as a person, you can not grow and at the end help others. My opinion is God first, then you as an individual, then spouse, children, friends and family, work and church (we must be ambassadors for the Creator of the universe (God) all the time). THE POINT is we must come closer to the Creator daily. And the message of that scripture for me is we must be close to Jesus Christ as the friends you let their friend through the roof to come close to Jesus. The friends also come closer to Him through their action. It is the same with Ps. 23. It is all about God who do everything for us. Our doings and actions mean “nothing” it is about the Trinity.
