PROOF! The “Speaker’s EDGE” Book Gets Rave Reviews

Hi, Darren,
I just have to write this note. In the Speaker’s EDGE, there is a chapter (maybe Valentine’s?) where he said to repeat a key phrase when connecting with the audience. I did this last night. I gave an “Ice Breaker” to the TM X-L club (9 of the 14 members are DTM -– if I understand it correctly).
I joined last month (and moved from CTM to ACB), so I was invited to give an Ice Breaker. I used the title: When the Student is Ready…the Teacher Appears. Three times in my 6 minute presentation I used “when the student is ready…” as the transitional phrase. They loved it. One lady said my “technique” was very effective and asked if I mind that she use it. Of course, she may.
Of all the positive comments, one senior DTM said the talk was motivational and that I should take it on the road to encourage toastmasters to speak to former members to return to TM. Our Area Governor, Francisco Gutierrez, was present so we’ll see what we do with it. Again, thank you for the book–a most excellent, educational tool. I am re-reading it. See you in Vegas Nov 6.
