Did you know that is possible, and I highly encourage it!

I remember when I sat in my mentor’s comedy class, Vinnie Favorito. As he spoke candidly to us and told us that some of in class one day will surpass him. We all laughed. How could that be possible? No way!

My point is not that I surpassed Vinnie. I have not. He is in a different world than me. My point is that all of us in class never believed it would be possible. It truly is. I know that some of you that have learned from me will surpass me. I hope you remember the little people like me!

In fact in our next program that Craig Valentine and I will releasing July 17th, Own the Stage, one the very first things in the program is a long list of the people whom we have learned from. We all learn what we know somewhere, either from a mentor/teacher or experience. I hope that you, like me continue to learn from both.

Below is a video of clip of a speaker that I believe has potential to surpass me. He made a decision that changed his life. Nick Prefontaine was in a coma for three weeks, and Doctors said that he may never walk again. Nick had to learn to walk, talk and even swallow again. It is inspiring. Watch the video and you’ll appreciate what you and your family have a little more.

Nick has been incredibly coachable. He’s followed all of my advice to a tee. I know that some time, some day, some way if he continues to be coachable nothing will stop him. Nick reminds me of listening to my mentors when I drove 2 1/2 hours to do 5 minutes of comedy for free and drive back to go to work at my day job the next morning. How coachable are you?

P.S. I don’t recommend doing what Nick did to get a story…
