A Presentation Tip from Bruce Springsteen

Wow… in watching some memorial speeches honoring Tim Russert, I found this video clip of Bruce Springsteen paying tribute to him. What I found for my readers was a wonderful tip from one of the true masters of story-telling. Listen carefully as Bruce tells you what he does just before he goes out on stage.

Many of us tend to focus on the person in our audience who appears to be having a horrible time. We make it a mission sometimes to “convince them” to connect with us. The problem is that they tend to suck the energy out of us, and then we end up alienating all the people who are 100% connected to us. These are the people who deserve our focus. They, in turn, will feed us more energy which helps the connection and presentation over all.

What do YOU do just before you walk out to get “stage time?”
