Poor planning leads to punch lines

OK, so I get to Las Vegas and thought I had planned well for my trip. I chose not to do the U-Haul thing and instead, since having no furniture, I shipped everything UPS and got in my car and drove.
It seemed like a plan with less hassle. I was shipping boxes right up to the time I left. I meticulously counted out the correct amount of “socks” and “draws” to cover my travel time and shipped the rest. Did you detect the fatal flaw in that planning?
So, I get here and realize I counted out enough to cover my trip, BUT not enough to cover the time it take for my boxes of clothes get here! Duh!
Guess what my first purchase here in Las Vegas was last night?
The great thing about speaking is whenever we do something silly, I’ve got a story for my story file!!!!
May your story file grow less quickly than mine!

PS. When I got up this morning I opened one of my bags with my master CDs in it, and Ta Dah, more “socks” and “draws.” I guess I had planned better than I thought!

Well now. Just as I am leaving to board my plane in Hartford, CT for the Story Telling Champ Camp I am having second thoughts.
I did not know that this would be that “sort of weekend”. The marketing says “Walk in with an idea, walk out with a masterpiece”. I am bringing an idea that does not include these items from Darren’s wardrobe. Looking forward to walking out with a masterpiece, that again does not include Darren’s wardrobe.
Hopefully we will analyze, dissect and create stories that have other themes, if you know what I mean :)
See you in a few hours Darren, in Vegas, ready to create significantly spruced up South African stories.
