Do you practice what you preach?
I’m on the road… spoke this morning for a client on Cape Cod, MA. After finishing, I ran to Logan Airport to fly to Richmond, VA to speak to NSA VA. It’s been a long day! As my taxi pulled up to my hotel, I was greeted by the flashing lights of an Ambulance. When I checked-in at the front desk, the clerk, “Tee” mentioned that a man had been rushed to the hospital with a nosebleed. There was a lot of tension at the front desk and in the hotel lobby.
At our Humor Boot Camp, we give several “homework” assignments so the participants can apply their lessons learned to real-world situations. One of the homework assignments is called “cashier comedy.” The plan is to make any service person laugh. Great improv… and great practice. My new friend, Tee, was very helpful during check-in and he seemed to want to go above and beyond. Nevertheless, he still seemed stressed.
After settling-in and ironing for the morning, I went downstairs to have dinner to the restaurant near the front desk. After dinner, I was on my way back to the room to polish tomorrow’s presentation, and Tee asked me, “How was dinner?”
I replied, “Outstanding! …and not even a nose bleed!” He cracked up! Even though I enjoyed making 77 people from the medical industry laugh on the Cape this morning, my favorite part of the day was making Tee laugh and relieving some of his stress before I went to sleep.
Stage time (anywhere),

P.S. Who did you make laugh today? Do you practice what your presentations preach?
